Flamingo

In the heart of the Andes, volcanic activity has built more than mountain peaks. It's thrust a high desert plateau more than three miles up into the sky. The Altiplano. Sulphurous steam from the world's highest geyser field, rises into cold thin air. A vision of earth before life began. In this, most extreme environment of earth: the flamingo.

Gathering in huge flocks they spend their time feeding with their beaks upside-down or uninterruptedly marching through the mirror waters. They march in one direction for a while and then quickly turn to go the other way in a synchronic, hypnotising dance. The marching of these elegant birds is one of the most fascinating spectacles in nature.

The word "flamingo" comes from the Spanish and Latin word "flamenco".

The classical Flamingo pen family has a subtle elegance akin to the famous bird or maybe to the famous dance. It has a pure, flowing profile and a distinctive character. The unique three-dimensional shape of the cap with two subtle cavities running across the sides, give the collection a architectural feel and it's trademark characteristic. The unique shape of the cap is echoed by the shape of the nib.

It is a highly versatile and inventive collection. It brings together a plethora of different interpretations of the same creative vision. Unique to the collection, the cap and clip are fashioned from one solid piece of metal. Furthermore, the cap holds to the barrel simply by the virtue of the vacuum inside the cap. No thread or push system is required. The whole collection embodies the distilling of the pen to its purest form and functions.
